Jack Goes to The Netherlands

Netherlands was the second country I’ve ever visited in my life aside from my home country which is the Philippines. The moment I arrived in Germany, I enjoyed some beer and currywurst then went to visit The Netherlands. It was drizzling and super cold but I cannot resist not to go there. First place in The Netherlands that I visited was in Maastricht. Very beautiful and calm.

Maastricht

Roermond

A day after, I went on a shopping spree in Roermond, The Netherlands. Any designer brand that you could ever think of is there! Aside from that, almost everything’s on sale. You can get a decent Prada wallet for only PHP 5,000 – 10,000! I spent my whole month salary buying my family pasalubong. I love Roermond but it was dang cold!

Keukenhof (Lisse)

Days after, I went to the Tulip Garden or the Garden of Europe. I’ve been looking forward to go here and finally, one of my dreams come true. The ticket costs 16EUR or almost 900 pesos to see the entire garden. Worth it but I wish, I visited this weeks later as the flowers have not yet come to its full bloom yet.

The Hague

After touring the Tulip Garden, the Titas of Europa went to this Pinoy restaurant and OMG! Best freaking Pinoy food ever! I’m not a die-hard fan of Pinoy food but everything we ordered are so delicious – even more delicious than what I’ve tried in the PH for 21 years LOL.

Their price is of course, European price! Super expensive if you’d like to eat Pinoy food in a karinderya. However, it was worth it!

I ordered this big ass serving of sisig for 12EUR, I believe so. I loved it! I also loved their chicken adobo!!! <3

Me looking stupid in The Hague. I was super sick that I have zero voice coming out of my mouth. Life lesson: Wear pants!

Scheveningen Beach

My mom used to live near Scheveningen Beach for 3 months and she told me how beautiful it was. The Titas of Europa along with Father went to the beach to grab some drinks. Again, it was painfully cold but beautiful. I just hate it when the cold breeze blows my face. It’s a torture.

If you see this bar just across the beach, that’s the bar that we went for some drinks. I forgot the name but it was amazing as well. I had Jager hoping that it’d help my stupid throat.

I love campfires! Would’ve been perfect if we toasted some S’mores but we were all so tired…

Rotterdam

A month after and before my tour started, I traveled from GK, Germany to Rotterdam, Netherlands. I was so afraid as it was my first train ride alone. I do not know what platform and what station but I just prayed and tried my best to stay alert.

Before I embark on my Eurotrip group tour in Amsterdam

Me acting calm but deep inside, I was nervous. Thank God for my pocket wifi from My-Webspot, I can track where exactly I was and how many more stations to go.

Looks like this in the first few minutes of the ride but after that, it was a scenic view!

I stayed with a family friend, Tita Lhen and Tito John before my group tour in Amsterdam which was a 30-min ride from their home in Rotterdam.

They picked me at the Rotterdam Centraal and upon arrival, I got to eat the best strawberry cheesecake in my life! It was homemade by Tita Lhen!

Then after that, I spent the whole day with their children, Samira and Chris.

It was a sunny day and I can finally wear tights without any leg warmers!

Sammira toured me around and we had this really good vanilla ice cream! <3

Within those days that I was in Rotterdam, we visited a lot of thrift shops. There were tons of good finds but I only have a small luggage for my group trip. I even saw this big furniture that can fit your TV, sound, and video equipment for only PHP 12,000! If shipping wasn’t an issue… :/

The Netherlands has the best fries! Fries with peanut butter, mayo, and garlic? Sounds weird but so delicious!!!

Rotterdam was fantastic but I had to go and meet new friends and see new places!

Amsterdam

Tita Lhen and Tito John drove me straight to my hotel in Amsterdam. The tour starts in London but I didn’t apply for UK visa so I had to meet them at the first location which was in Amsterdam. I kind of missed something because they drove from London to Amsterdam while I was just waiting in the hotel. 🙁

Tour Radar Europe Jewel tour assigns you with your roommate which you will have no idea until the first day. I was praying that I will get a good roommate because I’ll be staying with her for weeks.

God heard my prayer and He gave me Natasha. Natasha was originally from South Africa but she was staying in Dubai for work. She’s a sweetheart! First day and we immediately clicked!

Expectation vs reality moment. I thought that I could get a decent photo in the iamsterdam letters but look at me looking like a fool here. There were tons of people – some even climbing at the letters!

We went around Amsterdam but I was so caught up in the moment that I didn’t take too much photos. Actually, my whole Eurotrip, I had 10,000+ photos but that couldn’t translate all the things I did and place I visited.

We went back to the bus and they passed this note from Shabby, our tour guide. Super excited for the pizza cruise!

We had beers, wines, ice creams, and pizzas! This was also the time we went to different tables and said Hi to everyone. I swear, I felt so blessed being a part of this group. Everyone was so nice and warm.

Imagine enjoying the food, drinks, chat, and friendship while cruising through the beauty of Amsterdam.

We were asked to choose if we would go back to the hotel with Davo, our driver or go to Red Light District with Shabby after the cruise. Who in their right mind would choose the former?! We’re here to party! We’re here for Red Light District, baby!

Out of all the 1,000 photos that I have, these 3 are the only photos of Red Light District that I took. As you may know (or not), taking photos in the RLD is prohibited unless you want pimps to snatch your phone and throw it. Left and right are girls displaying their almost-nude body in an aquarium-like glass. You can go ahead and knock on their door if you want to have sex with them. There were also sex shows and we wanted to check that but the queues were so long!

The Pinoys in the group tour (2 couples and myself) decided to go to Amsterdam’s best “coffee shop” and dang, those muffins were amazing! So moist! <3 The Pinoys shared this and we enjoyed it!

We had a great time! Had some more beers, sang our lungs out, danced!

Shabby, Divan (in gray), Oliver, Angel, myself, Ayeen, and Alvin

So there they were, teasing me! Before this photo was taken, I was K.O.! I should believe people when they say to try the beginner first. Instead, I went ahead and tried a level higher and ate more than half the muffin to myself. I thought I was going to die but when I heard them say “Photo time!,” I smiled as if nothing happened! Hahaha boo guys, you can never take a bad photo of me.

Because Ate Ayeen, Kuya Alvin, and I didn’t want to take a cab and pay 60EUR to go back to our hotel, we called it a night. We rode the train with our red eyes. What a night! I arrived at our hotel and Natasha was already there. It took me until 4am until I could sleep because I was busy looking at my family photos. I missed them.

I woke up before 7AM, packed my stuff, and head down to the hotel to grab our breakfast before we go to Riekermolen. I hoarded Nutella packs. #NoShame

Riekermolen

We drove until we arrived at this charming place to watch how to make clogs. Oliver volunteered and tried to make one himself. I should’ve bought those little clogs!

I also enjoyed the cheese making! We also get to try different cheese! I enjoyed the whiskey cheese so much.

Then windmill galore! I never knew it until then but windmills look hypnotizing. They were so beautiful. I could look at it forever.

After this, we went to Germany and continued the rest of our trip. I went back and forth The Netherlands after the trip. I regret being too late in buying a ticket to Anne Frank’s home. I went back in Amsterdam to try lining up but it was too cold for me to stand and wait for hours.

I hope to visit it again. I lived my dreams. I am indeed blessed.
